We combat human trafficking in two ways. The first is direct impact initiative, which provides shelter, education, and rehabilitation for girls we rescue from the brothels. The second is raising awareness of the issue and encouraging others to take action. Please see our 2013 initiatives below and feel free to email us if you have any questions - we would love to hear from you!

PROJECT REHABILITATION
Project Rehabilitation is our shelter that provides food, medical care and education for 50 girls who were rescued from the Red Light Districts of Kolkata. This shelter will specifically focus on vocational training and economic rehabilitation. As part of the Project Rehabilitation program, we also support additional trafficking survivors at a nearby leased shelter. |

EMPOWERMENT COLLECTION
In addition to providing basic necessities, one of our primary objectives is to implement a successful economic rehabilitation program. We want the girls in our shelters to have the skills to financially sustain themselves and successfully re-integrate back into society. We've partnered with an organization to provide our girls training in textile and design skills and we will also be working with an Indian NGO to find placement for our girls in textile and design firms. |

PROJECT VOICE
There are 1.2 million young, helpless girls in India’s brothels that suffer in silence each day. We want to be their voice and spread the story of the abuse and injustice they face. Our goal this year is to speak at 12 major universities and organizations. If you would like Sanlaap North America to present at your university or organization, please click here to contact us. |
